YOU WILL LEARN
1
What is an anacrusis and how do I count it?
To use this tool effectively and create dance/music synergy in your class, it's important to understand how to use an anacrusis when you mark exercises!
2
Music that has this quality!
Whether duple or triple meter, you will get to learn about a ton of music types available for you to take advantage of that magical 'and' or 'and a' in the music.
3
Practice using this awesome music attribute right away!
Music skills are only awesome if you can use them so we'll make sure to spend some time practicing!
4
1 hour of PD development!
Boom! Professional development check!
(RAD Teachers: This is worth 1 time-earned CPD hour!)
This is a great first opportunity for getting to know me and gaining a grasp of how I teach music through the lens of ballet!

Can you consistently demonstrate the difference between exercises arriving on the count vs closing on the count?
At least half the exercises that ballet teachers use in class are out on the count and at least half the exercises are closing on the count! As a teacher, being able to play with those accents is gold! This is where you can truly challenge and develop your dancers' musicality!
The only way a teacher can really play with this concept successfully is if they can successfully count the music type or rhythm that they want, clearly!
There are certain music types that cater to exercises that close on the count (ie. out on the anacrusis!) and we'll discuss them in this workshop in addition to learning how to count them well!
A Note From Lorel...
While I'm a busy busy lady in spring, I also want to stay invested in creating opportunity for dance teachers to develop themselves, musically.
In person is a wonderful experience and you can catch me LIVE this summer up at ADEA but until then, this is a great 2nd option!
Feel free to email me if you have any questions.
Making Music Easy, Lorel
P.S. The workshop will be recorded and available for a limited number of days afterwards. (Catching it LIVE is far better because you can engage and ask questions!)
